Seaman Chloe Pearce
Squad Leader · Most Fit Cadet · NROTC Nursing Candidate · The standard bearer who asks for a 5 and delivers a 10.
"When asked for a 5, she always delivers a 10."
The Standard Bearer
There's a phrase the staff at Cruiser Milwaukee use to describe Chloe Pearce: "When asked for a 5, she always delivers a 10." It's not that she's showing off — it's that her floor is simply higher than most people's ceiling. She doesn't seek recognition. She seeks precision, and the recognition follows naturally.
Recruit Training Excellence
During Recruit Training, Pearce executed every task with such efficiency and professionalism that supervising staff noted cadets "hardly knew she was there" — which in Sea Cadet culture is the highest possible compliment. She met every standard on the first attempt. No corrections. No second chances needed.
Advanced Training & Certifications
Pearce pursued challenging certifications at Naval Station Newport, including Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) and Emergency Medical Transportation training — experiences that shaped her decision to pursue a Navy nursing career through NROTC.
At Fort McCoy, she won the "Most Fit Cadet" competition while maintaining the humility and respect of every cadet around her. Winning didn't change her. She was already the same person before the award.
Leadership in Action
As Squad Leader and Leading Petty Officer, Pearce leads by example — not by rank. She identified an opportunity for cadets to visit a local medical flight program, then developed and executed the plan herself from concept through completion. That's not a cadet following orders. That's a leader identifying a gap and filling it.
Beyond the Uniform
Pearce competes in volleyball, softball, and wrestling. She paints. She reads. And she lives by a principle borrowed from Maya Angelou that captures exactly who she is in and out of uniform.
"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."
Excellence Is a Standard, Not a Ceiling
Chloe set the bar. What's stopping you from clearing it?
